This painting was painted in the high summer of June 2016 after several days exploring the Atlantic coast of south west England in Cornwall. The painting was painted fully outside on the coast, not in the studio. The painting captures, explores and records a physical, emotional, spiritual and metaphysical series of experiences felt, seen and experienced from sunrise to sunset along the coast, alone and immersed in nature. The painting explores traditional Chinese ink, saturated with water from the ocean. This medium was explored and discovered while painting in Taiwan in Asia along the Pacific coast for several years. There are concepts and practices of Tai Chi, Zen Buddhism and Taoism explored through the medium of the ink and the approach and process of painting with nature over extended periods of time. The painting is signed, dated and titled on the verso of the canvas, in addition the phrase "live free of die" is penned on the verso of the painting. The painting is shipped unstretched so as to support safe shipping internationally.
