I am back with on my on today's rewatch series. And now we'll talk about this wonderful evidence of growth. Of what love can do to a person.

This scene here is from S3E8: Into the light. One of my favourite scenes because it calls back to a similar situation from S1 when Daphne was dismissed by Anthony from helping Colin with the Marina situation (which ended up resolved through Daphne's efforts).

One of the things I enjoy about Bridgerton is that it's written for and about love. It may not always hit the mark, but after rewatching the season endlessly, I know that at its core, Bridgerton tries to present all facets of love.

You may have criticisms about the back half of S3 being almost as if it were exclusively about Penelope; however, Lady Whistledown is a big part of who Penelope is, and Colin's acceptance of her as Lady Whistledown was evidence of his growth beyond his hero complex.

Which is evidenced below.

Look at him being so kind. He knew Penelope was being hounded by the Queen. He knew that being the most popular person in the ton had its pressures. But I bet he doesn't ask why can't she spend more time with him but rather, what can he do to help ease the pressure on her shoulders. He's not just in love with her but is in love with who she is and worked his way out of his insecurities.

This is a man who prioritises his wife's happiness and contentment.

Who wouldn't fall more in love with a man like that?

On today's rewatch, I am stuck on this scene (i'm putting a breakdown because it's too good to just land on one frame):

Look at the difference between these two dorks trying to find each other

He's looking for her at the edge of the room (see the curtain on the right side?). She's looking for him next to the entrance (like the way you subtly wait for the person you like while in a party-- near the entrance so you can see them first and compose yourself before letting them see you).

This is actually the frame that I got stuck on. You can't easily see it on this gif (and I tried so hard to zoom it in but it made it so grainy) but looking closely, you can see this minuscule tug on his lip and the shine on his eyes when he spots Pen (can you be less obvious, sir???)

And then these affectionate smiles come out?! Please, sir, ma'am, you're supposed to be just friends.

on today's rewatch: Colin's death stare [S3E8: Into the Light]

I need a great big distraction right now as I'm going through something personal.

And of course, my great distraction is my sweet soft boi, Colin Bridgerton, giving a death stare and was ready to kill anyone if someone had made a comment right after Pen's LW reveal and before Philippa called in the release of the bugs.

People can be quick in saying that Colin didn't even move to join Pen on stage...that Philippa had to rescue her. But, I've always had this head canon that Pen asked him to restrain himself because she didn't want him and his family to be caught in between the issues of LW. But we can clearly see here (and the subsequent speech and reconciliation) that Colin wouldn't have cared if he was caught in between. He was already carrying her burden with her and for her without realising it and hence why he always wants to rescue her (boy needs to work on his tunnel vision though).

Did he fumble around a bit? Of course. A broken heart can do that to you. But-- this season gave us two people who we saw work hard on themselves to be whole for the other.

It's why it was so easy for him to say "But you are my mess."

on today's rewatch, this is where i'm stuck on

looking at each other before going in for another kiss. the way both of their eyes dip longingly at each other. Pen and Colin's first kiss will forever give me goosebumps.

On today's rewatch (actually from a few days ago), I got stuck on this beautifully cheeky scene (I'm going to put 3 frames for comparison).

Look at this cheeky girl:

Is she smiling because he's saying sorry or is she amused that he's there in her garden trying to apologise or is she happy that he's there in her garden, wanting to right his wrong?

I fear we have not nearly talked enough about the garden apology.

on today's rewatch: S3E5 [Tick Tock]

i'm seeing a lot of chatter about the awards season and how both my faves are submitted for it. to be honest, i'm making this post because i love Luke newton and i want him recognised. i'm not sure if this adds to anything for it but i want to do my bit anyway.

today, i offer the way Luke has distinguished the way he has Colin call out Pen's name.

Prime example:

through Polin, i discovered that i have a kink and it's an aural one 😏 i like listening and understanding the way people talk and the certain inflections they have a strong preferences to. it's why i admire actors who can do great accent work-- one that doesn't just reflect the place they're supposed to be from but giving a personality to their way of speaking.

if you have time to rewatch, try to catch the way Luke portrays Colin calling Pen's name. There is always a catch-- a beat before he says her name as if it's caught up in his train of thoughts. As if saying her name always has this weight that he needs to carefully carry. i don't know when i started to notice these pauses/beats but i think Luke evolved this way of calling Pen's name from S2. it's the groundwork for Colin's growing feelings. i mean, it's so subtle, so nuanced that it's easy to miss. quite frankly, a lot of people probably missed it.

i read the pauses/beats as a way of reverence. as if, if i say your name, may it always come out of my mouth with the utmost care and love. i should probably also explain that i am particular when i say someone's name. i can't just say it because i am a complete introvert and if i address someone by their name, then it means i mean to grab their attention and the subsequent conversation i'll have with them bears significant meaning to me.

that just sounded as if i'm projecting my personality to Colin but i do identify to him the most and i just love that even these small things were considered by Luke.

on today's rewatch: just Polin on S2 [S2E7: Harmony]

I don't know what I did but I'm in a puddle of tears staring at this gif.

I was editing some stuff, landed on this scene, and then tears started and are still streaming down my face.

Their concern for each other? The chemistry coming out of them just by looking at each other? I just... I'm just running out of words how much I love these two 😭

On today's rewatch, this is the scene i'm stuck on:

This my favourite LW insult out of all the LW insults I've seen on this show so far.

and her writing this while feeling unwell? Pen has her priorities straight.

I researched what succubus meant and it is a diabolical insult. Adding in first water meaning of the first quality means that she's saying that Cressida is the evilest succubus demon to ever exist.

Succubus: a demon assuming female form to have sexual intercourse with men in their sleep

and saying all of that while looking this pretty.

They could never make me hate you, b**tchy Pen/LW. Such a shame that she never got to publish this issue
