@petitekuro Akida never really considered herself to be normal. At least not on the social scale of an average female living in Japan. So many stereotypes, so many expectations, and so many unwritten rules. She hardly fit into any of them. Everyone was there own person, and Akida believed this more than anything. As long as she wasn’t hurting anyone, she didn’t have a problem with how she lived, what she looked like, and who she let into her life. At one point in her life, however, she began hurting someone. The most important person; and that was herself.
For many years after, Akida promised herself to be a better person. Live a more wholesome life and make herself happy instead of living for others at her own expense. Maybe this is why she had let Kuro into her life. Whoever this person was, she felt a connection that surpassed others she formed in the past. Someone so young, intelligent, witty...could teach Akida a lot more about life. Things happen for a reason. Waking up that morning, with Kuro sleeping soundly, she could find herself smiling beyond her control. It was a different feeling. It was like when you wake up to find out that your pet or a child fell asleep next to you, looking for warmth and security. If that is what the other wanted, even for just a short time, Akida was willing to give that to them. Now, she stood in her kitchen, mixing up some pancake mix as bacon sizzled on the small stove-top beside her. A handful of chocolate chips slowly melting in her palm, waiting for the perfect moment to toss them in. This was always her favorite breakfast. Akida’s mother lived in the US for a few years and preferred this heavy American breakfast over the usual miso and rice. This was what she would make every Sunday morning for Akida. Maybe today wasn’t Sunday, but she had a feeling it would be something Kuro would enjoy. She was still in her pajamas; a lose pair of basketball shorts and a camisole that was a size too small. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun, keeping it out of her face as she made food. Normally, she wasn’t much of a morning person but something told her to get up and make breakfast today. Though she still felt a bit groggy, she hoped her morning coffee and cigarette would help her at least make enough food for her guest. Just as she was pouring pancake mix into the frying pan, she heard Kuro’s voice call out her name. With so much going on in the kitchen, Akida decided to speak back to them as she flipped a pancake over. Luckily her apartment was small, she barely even had to raise her voice. “Kuro! I’m in the kitchen.” She quickly grabbed some slices of bacon with a pair of tongs and set them on a plate for them, putting the finished pancake on the same plate as soon as it was done.
