Somehow knowing that conservators had to turn the Tarkhan tunic (aka the oldest dress in the world) inside in again to display it makes me unaccountably sad. Someone stripped it off and left it that way. Why can’t we honor that action of that human being? Why do we value the sanitized, cleaned up version of the past over the messier human truth?
