This gesneriad which originated in China was new to me and was flowering on the bench of the cool glasshouse of the Cambridge Botanic Garden, UK. Petrocosmea cryptica has hairy leaves that are adapted to periods of drought, often growing in rocky places, the hairs are thought to reduce transpiration.
