Streptocarpus ‘Spin Art’
Sinningia defoliata
This species blooms directly off the tuber. Leaves are produced seasonally, also directly from the long-lived tuber. Excellent, easy houseplant. Must be grown from seed. The leaves are pine-scented. This plant is about 10 years old.
Puget Sound Gesneriad Society Show, March 2015
Grown by Peter Shalit
Streptocarpus are extremely easy-to-grow everblooming houseplants that thrive in a bright windowsill. It’s a wonder they aren’t more popular!
Above are Streptocarpus ‘Verso’ and Streptocarpus ‘DS-Striborg’
Streptocarpus hybrids
Streptocarpus ‘DS-Stribozh’, named after the Slavic God of wind.
Aeschynanthus radicans. Gesneriads have been on my mind a lot this week.
