Royal Selangor foundry workshop

an unplanned discovery – we were in KL and had one free day, made a decision the night before to visit Royal Selangor. saw F1 trophies there and learnt that they designed and produced a number of F1 trophies!
the foundry workshop was cool, we got to cast pewter into our choice of premade molds while also trying some freehand pours. freehand was too difficult as you have to control the pewter temperature and thickness well, couldn't get a nice final design so we stuck with the molds eventually. the staff was really helpful and it was fun, from casting to buffing and polishing. also for left-handers like myself, don’t worry they have left-handed pewter ladles 👍
learnt about casting as a manufacturing method, did not expect to try one myself. absolutely did not disappoint
