for mcyt yuri week valentines edition! this is late. everything will be late.

the sun shimmers as it rises over the rolling hills, making them glow a gentle orange with its touch. a woman stands looking over outside of a window, shadow spilling over the bed and rug and the rest of the room. she hums, a soft, quick ditty as the sun brightens and the sky shifts to an azure hue.

it is her light that spills over the landscape, her light that ignites the world and provides such safety to the players below. she sighs, arms beginning to wrap around herself as she sways, the whites and blues of her attire blending into a cloudy summer sky.

soft footsteps tred behind her before she is engulfed in a cool embrace, their arms entwining with her own.

their fiery red hair spills over her shoulders as she turns to return the embrace while adding a kiss to their cheek.

"awake already?" they say with sleepy amusement.

"are you surprised?" she returns with a smile. dawn and daylight is her domain as much as dusk and darkness is theirs---at least, for now. they hum and she cannot help but ask, "are you sure you shouldn't be sleeping?" the weight of their chin heavy on her shoulder.

their reply is interrupted by yawns. "eclipse today. can't quite miss that, can i?"

"no. no, i guess not." a smile plays at her lips as she jokes, "zombies in the daylight? who would've thought?"

"mm." the sound has an absent quality to it, like they're falling asleep on her shoulder. she lets slip a small grin.

"cleoo."

"stacyy." they pout into the side of her neck. she gazes softly at them, the shifting hues of their skin containing the shifting expanse of the night sky, freckles and seams working to create vast constellations.

at this point the sun has nearly reached its zenith where the moon hangs, waiting. regretfully, she nudges cleo into more of a standing position and offers her hand---as is her duty. they grasp her hand and raise an eyebrow, “dancing without any music? good heavens, what has the world come to?”

she giggles in response and they start to dance.

the dance is weird to the mortal eye, a fast pace sort of mix between a tango and a waltz. they spin and chase each other around the room as it rings with laughter. they switch, back and forth and back and forth, a flurry of leading movements until it's impossible to tell who is leading who.

for a brief moment they pause, as though unaware their dance has carried them several feet above the ground, and gently float back down. stacy’s curtain of dark hair falls back into place as gravity takes effect, a starless sky reflecting in the depths of her eyes.

fiery red hair gleams and bounces as they sweep her off their feet, giddy and glowing with the power of the sun. it is a lucky thing they swept her off her feet when they did with the way she sways as exhaustion looms over her. “i forget---” she pauses, a yawn rippling through, “i forget how tiring that is.”

“what, exchanging domains? and you were wide-eyed five minutes ago!” they tease.

she grumbles half-heartedly, lids slipping closed as her surroundings start to blur together. cleo gently and almost reverently places a kiss on her temple, the warmth of which soaks into her skin and she leans into them with a sigh.

together they head back up to their room, stacy curling up in midnight blue blankets while cleo sits next to her, gazing out the window at the glaring sunbeams.
