Hey, I just found Wayfarer a few days ago and have played through it twice! It's honestly incredible, instantly shooting up into a must watch list to see it develop! I'm so excited to see where it goes! It's absolutely fantastic, and I love the descriptions! I have to ask since it happened in both my playthroughs. Is it common for the relationship with Aeran to doomspiral in the city? I'm out here trying to he diplomatic and not make any major enemies, and I just see the relationship go down and down. Also, I love Phaedra and am very much looking forward to meeting Alexia in the future!

Aeran is in a very vulnerable and fragile state by the time he and the MC reach Velantis. He has a lot of varied experience with Arathians, and Velantis is quite literally the last place in Rhesainia he should be right now. Even if the MC is trying their best to remain diplomatic and it's for the best, he is going to have opinions about it. This places the MC in a tricky place--do they do what is going to make their friend happy, or are they going to do what is best for both of them?

While it is possible to make amends (of a kind) with him at the end of Episode 2, it doesn't necessarily mean that everything is going to be okay. You also have to be specific about how you are interacting with him during the fight in the courtyard--and if your approval slipped below a certain threshold before the fight starts, the reconciliation scenes at the end of the episode are locked off.

I'm glad you're enjoying Phaedra! She's one of my favourites and a lot of fun to write.
