Sokira clung to Phaellam’s arm as they made their way through the streets. She used to love being among other people; being isolated in her huge house, denied the outside by her husband unless she were strictly supervised, the outside world was only a treat for every once and a while.

But now, that she wasn’t supervised and protected, it was frightening. Not only Khalai roamed these streets--the Dark Ones did, as did the wild, fierce Tal’darim. The irony that she was currently hanging onto a Nerazim’s arm didn’t escape her.

It was midmorning; she, Phae and Neoteros were all headed to his parents’ tattoo parlor for their life drawing lesson. Sokira had no idea what to expect. She would have thought a tattoo parlor would have been dingy, dirty; but somehow she didn’t expect that of Phae, or else they wouldn’t bring everyone there.

Neo bounced where she clung firmly to his hand, refusing to let him run off. “Mamaaaa,” he whined.

“No, love; stay here,” she replied, firmly.

Neo pouted. Sokira glanced up at Phaellam, shyly. It was still so strange, to be holding onto them like that, but she trusted they didn’t mind.

“Are we... where is this parlor?” she asked softly.

Now for something completely different for Azuna or Phaellam?

This isn’t necessarily a good thing, but Azuna is really good at lying. She did it for so many years as a child and growing up, and, it’s just something she can do so easily. She can still her presence, hide the quiver in her psionics, and mask a lie most perfectly.

Phaellam is really good with children. Like, really good. They have incredible patience and unlike some who just see them as irritating, loud, small things, Phae sees them as small people who will one day be adults who are going to shape the world. Sometimes, even, the company of children is preferable to some adults. They have an unending curiosity and see the world in a way that adults seem to have forgotten, or simply cannot any more.

A message appears on Immardar's terminal titled "Local artist seeking model for life drawing classes". Dear Immardar, I am Phaellam, a local artist who runs life drawing classes both for art therapy and paying students. I am Azuna's sibling - I gather you know her well! Our roster of models is rather low just now, and she passed your name on to me, suggesting you might be interested modelling sometime when you are free? I run them twice a month, and you will be paid well. Let me know. Phae x

Immardar wondered if he could get away with sending “YES” without any further discussion. Showing off his looks, and getting paid for it? Sign him up!

Yes, I would be very interested in modeling on occasions when I am free, especially if Azuna recommended me. Thank you for taking the time to send the message, I would be happy to help out whenever I can.

Well, he’d have to rearrange his days off in order to take as much advantage of this as possible. But first, he had to track down Azuna and thank her vigorously.

*Someone* has heard Phaellam plans on following in their father's courtesan footsteps...

Phae stared at the message as the screen hovered at their side. They almost dropped the paintbrush in their fingers, bewildered at the words. They plan on what? 

They couldn’t stop the laugh that filled the air, nervous and amused as they thought on the rumour. Phae set down the brush just as they watched a small droplet of paint form at the tip, ready to fall. 

“Follow in Raezar’s footsteps?” they said, echoing the words. “I - don’t get get me wrong, I respect my father immensely. He - he is more than just someone you can buy for sex. His name is whispered in places, echoed like an enigma. People save for years, just for one night with him.” Phae pauses, staring at their half finished painting. “Can you imagine what that must be like? To be sought after, so ardently? To be desired, so intensely?”

They pick up their brush again and draw it across the canvas, a small laugh rippling in the air again. “I could never do what my father does. I just don’t have his....essence. I don’t think I do. I’m not sure many would do well with someone who can’t,” they wave a hand. “Pick a side, either. That’s in regard to gender, by the way. No. I’ll just stick to painting.” As they draw their brush over the curve of a crest, Phae smiles. “I only want to see myself with one person.”

They smirk, pausing. “And anyway, have you seen me flirting? It’s quite tragic, really.”
