Day 1 of San Diego Comic Con 2025 and I already spotted our boy Erik.

Here's my process of making Phantom's helmet, based on the 3D file I've found here

I used wood filler to smooth the shape of the nose bridge and add the little part on the helmet, then I found that the beak was a little bit too short so I wanted to lenghten it

So first I've put nails in it, to have a strong structure, then some iron wire, making sure to bend the tips to avoid it poking out of the thing and stabb me

Then I added aluminium foil to fill in, and a good amount of hot glue to seal the whole thing to the plastic base and together

Next step was to add papier-mâché, to fill the gaps and sculpt the thing, and I topped it with wood-filler to give is strength and finish to sculpt the shape

Then: Sand paper, sand paper, add more wood filler, sand paper, more wood filler, sand paper, sand paper… to smooth all the shape, making sure to do something as much symmetrical as I could

Next was priming, painting, put on some eyeliner, and hot-glue-seal the cheap sunglasses glass I've found on second hand (who apeared to be just the right size, phew!)

Cons :

I could have sand paper'ed the whole thing a bit more, as you can still see the 3D printing lines on some parts

I should have made the beak maybe 1 centimeter (0,39 Inch) shorter because it's a little bit long

Pros :

Eh, I'm proud of what I've done, I love it <3

a little cosplay action while i have artist’s block </3 lol

i put together the whole thing myself which was a real labor of love lol- sewing the appliqués on the cloak, stretching the hat with steam to fit the mask, making velvet cuffs and a collar for the tailcoat, etc. (mask is from Studio D FX and the lacefront wig (that u can’t even see 💀) is from Arda Wigs !)

I know I’m probably too late but please do not waste your money on that PhantomCon Coney Island Designs is promoting. She is a horrible human that threw the entire wardrobe team under the bus recently. While a lot of folks have come forward with not nice interactions with her, I can tell you first hand she is a narcissist and a scammer. I commissioned an London/Hampton Court SIX Anne Boleyn costume from her in July of 2023, she charged me $2800 dollars which I did not haggle or disparage, and paid in FULL 45 days from the due date of commission. I provided her with a massive Google drive of reference material, access to social media of the actual costume makers, handles of cosplayers that had made professional grade reproductions, access to me for fittings, and a 24/7 line of communication in case she needed my input.

She procrastinated starting until 30 days before the due date and made massive errors. Never asked me for all the measurements she actually needed. When I spoke up about the errors in the costume, she flipped out on me and guilt tripped me over something I paid nearly $3000 dollars for. She also smeared me on her Instagram claiming I “wasn’t happy with her and won’t talk to her and she just doesn’t understand why” which was a blatant lie.

After the melt down, I received a shoddily made costume that didn’t fit with tons of holes, tears, size issues (the skirt was massively too short and the bodice twice my size). The trim she claimed to have sewed on was glued and I had to resew every single piece. There was zero boning in the skirt as she had claimed. The shoulder pieces had no reinforcement and flipped around like a party city costume. I put an additional 60-80 hours into the costume to make it fit and make it sellable for after my events. The underspanks had to be completely retooled as they were made like boxers not spankies.

She also charged me $100 for hair crowns, which she never made and clearly purchased for $10 off Amazon. The only item that was well made was the stoning on the boots I provided.

Honestly I could go on and on and on. Most of the receipts for this are in a Google drive I will link. I have requested a refund, and I will return the costume which is in MUCH better shape than I received it. I am bringing a lawsuit against her for breach of contract.

I am BEGGING you not to give her any piece of your money. Raquel is an amazing teacher, so please save your money and take private lessons with her. This PhantomCon is a not where it’s at. I stayed quiet because I am a professional actress and this industry is SMALL and catty, but I just cannot sit back and watch her scam passionate people again. I cannot sit back and let her use Raquel and the entire Phantom team to move up the ladder as an IATSE member AND a potential influencer. Please do not spend your money on this event, ask for a refund if you already have.
