Trick or Treat
My Halloween gift for you all. In which Adrien deserves love, Plagg needs to tone it down, Hawkmoth can’t take a holiday off and the Black Cat ghosts are Adrien’s true parents.
“Is it that time of year already?” Plagg asked gleefully as Adrien decorated his room. “Yep! I’m so excited, Plagg!” Adrien replied. “All this is a long way from how we used to celebrate Hallow’s Eve.” Jean recalled. “What did you use to do?” Adrien asked.
“We’d light fires, chasing away the demons. Then we had the danse macabre, where people dressed as corpses.” Jean explained. An uncomfortable silence followed.
“Anyway....I’m just happy this’ll be my first Halloween with you guys.” Adrien finally said. “That’s all?” Plagg asked. “Don’t walk into it, it’s a trap.” Hei Mao muttered. “What do you mean, Plagg?” Adrien asked. “Too late.” Bastet groaned. “You’re a Black Cat, Adrien! And as such, you are a staple of Halloween! This is YOUR holiday!! You shall haunt the streets of Paris!!” Plagg ranted dramatically.
“What Plagg means to say is that we are also excited to spend Halloween with you, Adrien,” Felix said. “So, what are you guys dressing up as?” Adrien asked enthusiastically. The Cats all looked at each other, confused. “What?” They all asked in unison. “You know, what costume are you gonna wear!” Adrien replied. “We...never really have.” Hei Mao said slowly.
“You’ve NEVER dressed up for Halloween?!” Adrien asked incredulously. “Well, we’re ghosts,” Antiope said. “And historical figures,” Alex added. “And technically superheroes.” Aladdin continued. “So, three in one, right? We can just be ourselves.” Hei Mao decreed. “That’s kinda cheating.” Adrien remarked, “Come on, you have to dress up!” “We’ll see...”
A week later, it was Halloween and Adrien woke up to a very surprising sight. All the Cats had dressed up! Aladdin and Alexander had dressed up as Antiope, Felix was Cat Noir, and.......well, he didn’t quite know who everyone else was. But at least they dressed up, at they said it was the scariest thing they could think of. Adrien went as Ladybug, of course. Once school was over, the group went trick or treating. Although he had to be discreet about talking to them, it was a blast to trick or treat with the ghosts. And then an akuma came.
“Geez, Hawkmoth can’t take one day off?!” Plagg yelled, exasperated. “Looks like Hawkmoth chose trick.” Adrien joked, “Plagg, claws out!” “You sure you don’t want me to take this one? I am Cat Noir tonight, after all.” Felix teased. “You’ve always been Cat Noir, gramps.” Cat Noir retorted, “Wish me luck!” “Good luck, kitten!” Hei Mao cheered. “We believe in you!” Aladdin added. They all couldn’t help but smile as Cat Noir joined Ladybug in the fight. They were so proud of their boy.
