Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 Tourer - 1929 by Perico001 Coachwork by Barker Chassis n° 820R Estimated : € 200.000 - 250.000 Sold for € 201.250 RM Sotheby's Place Vauban Parijs - Paris Frankrijk - France February 2018 Thrilled by the success of its 1927/28 Riviera trials car, Rolls-Royce produced two further cars to identical specifications, down to its colour scheme of cream bodywork with polished aluminium bonnet, scuttle and wings and upholstery, which was in apple green leather. This car, the third, chassis no. 82OR, was retained by the factory until October 1930. The Rolls-Royce then led quite an adventurous existence, appearing in 1956 in Mombasa, Kenya. Reportedly, whilst in Mombasa, it was used to chauffeur Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh during a visit to the city. The Rolls eventually passed to William Proctor, who sold the car in 1964 to Jack Porter, an American who would maintain it for 32 years. In 1997, the Rolls was acquired by enthusiasts from London. It changed hands again two years later and, after researching its history, decided to have the car painstakingly restored once more in the original colours. The result of the restoration is still spectacular today, just as it was when it earned the Lucius Beebe Trophy at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 1999. Već na prvi pogled znali ste kakvi su to automobili s dušom. Automobili čijim “žilama” kola plava krv poput njihovih vlasnika. Dame i gospodo, Rolls-Royce Phantom I i Rolls-Royce Phantom II.

New Rolls-Royce Phantom

Model New Phantom predstavljen je u maju 1925. godine. Bio je to drugi Rolls-Royce nakon legendarnog Silver Ghosta, prvog R-R modela prisutnog na tržištu punih 18 godina. Koristeći gotovo identičnu šasiju modela Silver Ghost, New Phantom, kasnije poznatiji pod nazivom Phantom I, bio je prepun inovacija. Novi razvodni sistem smešten unutar jednodelne odvojive glave cilindara omogućavao je masivnom rednom šesterocilindrašu zapremine 7668 cm3 puno veću snagu od prethodnika. Inače, Rolls-Royce nikada nije otkrivao podatke o snazi svojih modela. Sve u svemu, karakteristike koje je inženjer Royce smatrao osnovnima - vrhunska mirnoća rada motora uz uvek dovoljno snage - bile su neupitne. Druga novost su mehaničke kočnice na svim točkovima, dok je sistem paljenja sa dve svećice po cilindru preuzet sa Silver Ghosta. Ugođaj u kabini je takođe impresionirao. Najskupoceniji materijali osiguravali su kraljevski ugođaj samo odabranoj gospodi. Ukupno je proizvedeno 2269 modela Phantom I.

  Rolls-Royce Phantom II

Nakon petogodišnje proizvodnje R-R predstavlja naslednika – model Phantom II. Ovaj je model bio i poslednji čiji je razvoj od nacrta do kompletnog modela nadzirao sam F. Henry Royce. Svojom elegantnom modernom formom Phantom II je impresionirao, a sa tehničke strane nadmašio je i legendarnog Silver Ghosta. Motor i menjačka kutija bili su spojeni, predstavljena je potpuno nova koncepcija zadnjeg vešanja, a dizajn prednje osovine omogućavao je izvanrednu stabilnost prilikom kočenja. Predstavljena je i sportska varijanta s lakšom karoserijom – Phantom II Continental. U vreme ovog modela R-R kupuje Bentley, a 1933. godine umire i drugi R iz imena, slavni inženjer Royce. Proizvedeno je 1402 modela Phantom II i 278 modela Phantom II Continental. 1936. godine na tržište stiže naslednik, model Phantom III.

Rolls-Royce Phantom – genijalna serija

Phantom I i Phantom II bili su vesnici posebne serije izuzetnih automobila sa legendarnom boginjom Emily koji su već samom pojavom predstavljali nešto posebno, uzvišeno, skupo. Serija od 6 modela, posljednji se proizvodio čak 25 godina (1968-1991), 2003. godine dopunjena je novim englesko-nemačkim draguljom koji slavnu britansku marku ponovno gura gde joj je mjesto. U sam vrh najboljih limuzina na svetu.
