Common Bronzewing (Phaps chalcoptera)

Large plump brown pigeon with both sexes having white stripes outlining the eyes and red, green, and blue patches along the wings, giving them a bronzed look, hence the name. Males have yellow foreheads and pink breasts. Native to and common in much of Australia. Inhabits a wide range of habitats, usually near a water source. Gives a single-syllable monotone “whoo” call.
