A quick drabble for @pharmercyappreciationweek
„Would you like some hot chocolate, Habibti? Or coffee, maybe?”
Angela looked up from her desk and smiled at Fareeha who was standing in the doorway.
“Sure, some hot chocolate would be nice. Thank you.”
“Great, I’ll be right back!” Fareeha smiled happily and turned towards the kitchen. Angela, still smiling, took off her glasses to stretch and rest for a bit. She thought about how Fareeha was especially kind to her today. She brought breakfast to bed, cooked a wonderful lunch and now this… It wasn’t unlike her to do all these things, but Angela couldn’t help but wonder if she was missing something.
Was it some kind of special day? Angela quickly recalled all holidays that she could remember. A birthday? No, of course not. An anniversary? Not that she could think of. No special event came to mind, either.
Having ruled out all likely possibilities, Angela came to the conclusion that Fareeha was simply this kind. She would do this quite often, and Angela had always felt a bit ashamed for not doing quite as much as her. Though, she did give Fareeha a lot in other situations, so…
Angela was still occupied with thoughts about Fareeha when the subject of her musing stepped into the room, balancing two steaming mugs in her hands. She walked over to the table, and placed them on the little surface that wasn’t covered by all kinds of research papers and documentation.
“Careful, it’s still hot.” She walked around the table and rolled a chair behind Angela’s. She started gently massaging her neck, the tired medic sighed as Fareeha’s strong hands worked her stiff shoulders.
“How much work do you have left, Ya Amar?”
Angela took a sip of her chocolate, and leaned back on her chair towards Fareeha. “Well, if you keep spoiling me like this, then I’m going to have to put it off until tomorrow… It’s not much, and it can wait if we have something more… Important to do.”
“Well, as a matter of fact, I was thinking of something. Today is a special day, after all, right?”
Damn. She forgot something. Turning her chair around, she looked at Fareeha, still trying to figure out what she had missed. Before she could say anything, Fareeha pulled out a big box of chocolates from behind her back, and handed it to Angela.
“Happy Valentine’s Day! They’re Swiss, I think you mentioned a couple of weeks ago that this is your favourite brand. They’re a bit hard to get here, but I hope you like them!”
Angela was still trying to gather her thoughts, but she instinctively took the chocolate that was offered to her.
“Fareeha, dear, I… Completely forgot… I’m so sorry, oh, I’m such an idiot, I was so caught up in work…” Before she could say any more, Fareeha leaned closer and silenced her by pressing her hot lips against Angela’s mouth. They tasted of chocolate, and Angela found the warmth of them quite comforting.
“Oh, it’s okay, Angela. Your happiness is the only thing that matters to me. Do you like the chocolates?
Angela was still looking embarrassed, but she managed to give an answer to that question at least. It really was her favourite type, after all. “Yes, how did you even manage to get these? Even in Switzerland they’re difficult to come by… Thank you, Fareeha.”
“Well, only the best for you, Habibti. And please don’t worry about a thing, I saw that you were busy, to be honest I don’t mind spending Valentine’s Day at home with you like this.” Fareeha lifted Angela’s hand to place a gentle kiss on it. Angela blushed slightly, but suddenly she had an idea about what to do.
“I still feel terrible for forgetting it.” She stood up, taking Fareeha’s hand, and nodded towards the bedroom. “Come, let’s see if I can’t make it up to you somehow.”
