Hey! I just followed your blog and it's super cool. I dunno if you're the right person to ask about this but I've been meaning to get into reading comics? From what i know i mostly like DC over marvel though i've liked Daredevil and GotG. Some characters I'd love to read are Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan), Harley Quinn, Robin, the Al Ghul's (specifically Talia), Deadpool, and I dunno, whatever you suggest! Do you know how I would go about reading the comics themselves? I have some comic stores (1/2)
(2/2) around me but I just don't know where to start. Should I just go to the stores and pick some stuff up? Or is it too expensive? Are there downloadable copies or torrents? Where do I start from? Is everything so interconnected that I have to read every single comic in chronological order just to get to Kamala Khan? Sorry for so many questions, I'm just really clueless. Feel free to publish this, I'm not the only person with these questions, but if you could please tag me so I can see it :)
No problem! Sorry for the late reply I saw your ask this morning as I was rushing out the door and I only just got home now so yeah sorry about that...
If you’re a better person than I am you can buy them (online copys) from comixology or by a marvel unlimited subscription (though all series are 6 months behind ugh..) and the dc online store, or in-hand copies through online places like book depository (even amazon tbh) and most of the time local comic shops should have an online website w/ delivery or instore pick up options so try googling them or heading in store and asking.
However I’m a horrible person who doesn't buy comics until I’ve read them and know I like them or I’m collecting them, so I often torrent (should be able to find if you type it like Ms Marvel 001 2014) or using websites like viewcomic.com which uploads form both DC, Marvel, Vertigo (Often linked w/ DC does things like Watchmen), Dark Horse (do alot of the pop culture spin offs like the Godzilla, Buffy and X-Files comics) and Image. Also the comic masterpost tag is super helpful.
Since like you said a shit-tonne of comics are interconnected that can be an issue but personally I just read the series’ that I like and then when I’m done if I couldn't get some bits I’ll google it and look up some wikis on the tie in series so.. (also probably avoid events like Civil War and Convergence within both DC and Marvel if you can for a while until your comfortable because most of them are either awful or straight up devastating and confusing)
Robin Recs (I didn't know which robin you meant or maybe just all of them?? so I split them up most of them are after they leave the robin mantle otherwise I’d be reccing comics from the 60′s and 70′s which are plain dull sometimes)
Jason Todd (Red Hood: The Lost Days 1-6)Batman & Robin Vol 1 (Damian Wayne aka current Robin)New 52 Nightwing (Dick Grayson)Tim Drake (Red Robin) various appearancesRobin + Batgirl
Going to throw in some of the girls because robins are great and I love them but Stephanie and Cass are so often left unloved
Black Bat + Batgirl eras (Cassandra Cain)Batgirl (Stephanie Brown)
Tahlia!!! She doesn't sadly have a solo series so that's sad
Various appearancesThis lists all her appearances w/out download links tho
If you like batfamily I’d recommend Batman Eternal as it’s a current series and really shows off the individual personality of everyone and how they all work together, its great.
Daredevil, this ones huge so just read from wherever your comfortable tbh its not a huge deal to read from the first volume or anything.
Daredevil Vol 1-4 + separate graphic novels
Deadpool has such a wide variety tbh but I loved so much this series
Harley Quinn (it’s a continued series so these are all the ones I could find as of rn)

Kamala Khan, Kamala has only been around nearly a year so shes only got her solo and some minor appearances in avengers issues. This post is super old though so 8-13 are missing
Guardians Of The Galaxy + Gamora appearances
Gotg 1-20Gamora solo appearances
Saga is an amazing series and its great for when you need a break away from marvel and dc (same with the wicked and the divine)
Beyond that I recommend reading some batwoman, poison ivy and fables if you ever get the chance because they all rock. Anyway! This got way too long so I cut the recommending down alot, overall no you don’t have to read everything prior to read a series and just venture out read whatever and get a feel for what you like, viewcomic is amazing + make sure you get a decent CBR reader, and ofc if you like it buy it!
