Paper deadline
Friday, 4am.
My plans for writing was totally messed up, because I got sick by the bass coming through from our neighbour. He was playing music loud for 3,5 hours and it reminded me of staying too close to a Berghain speaker for too long so your guts are trembling to the bass and you get sick. Just it wasn’t techno or Panorama Bar house music, it was some really tasteless pop music, which made it worse.
I don’t know who is worse: My current neighbour listening to bad pop, so the walls shake, or my old neighbour, who played Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire“ one summer long in a loop with his windows wide open for over 6 hours in the wee hours and trying to sing along.
I have worked in music business, so I understand the urge to play some music loud, and I also love to play some tunes - but I am working day and night these days and have unplugged my turntables for the time being.
At one point, our wardrobes was shaking by the bass that went through the thick concrete walls and additional layers of bookshelves (filled to the brim). I had to go over for the first time, to tell him to turn it down a bit. It took him one more hour to turn the music completely off.
So I spent the time putting laundry away and do some housework. And napped in another room. Had some quality time with my love, who came home from work at 1:30am - I really need to finish grad school NOW.
I have a paper deadline “today“, so I am using the quiet hours to be productive. Gladly, I am very relaxed and feeling really good.
Love the topic of the paper and already finished about 5.200 words-
- and it’s 6:30, because I worked without hitting the “post“ button.
It’s dawning. I sometimes forget how beautiful nature is, when the city is about to wake up. This spring, I will see a lot of sunrises. And this summer, hopefully out in nature.
