#GenderBasedViolence is always finding a woman to blame. If she’s a victim, they victim shame her. If he’s a perp, they blame his mom. Female victims with kids, often stay because of them. If they leave with kids, they’re stigmatised within the dating scene. THEY do the right thing all along the way and they suffer with each step they take. Dad is absent dad, abusive husband and doesn’t support her emotionally, washes his hands off kids after divorce or break up and she’s the bitch, the witch, the never good enough weak woman. The people who think #FreeBritney and #JusticeForJohhnyDepp isn’t as important, are the ones who use feminism as an excuse to be irresponsible. They have betrayed the sisterhood by misusing it for their own aims. Abusers are all looking for excuses to be irresponsible. The irony is feminism communities and women only groups often aren’t safe for survivors. Anyone who can’t acknowledge the existence of female abusers is someone who refuse to self examine. Women have been losing faith and refuse to call themselves feminists because of this, I completely understand why. They have indeed let female survivors down. Thank you @muyixiao and Xianzi for speaking up, a great example of how when one woman speaks up, she inspires another. It's tough within Chinese communities or in China or majority Chinese countries. The patriarchal idea of "lose face", bring shame to the family", "airing dirty laundry" still silences so many. This is a case to support and watch. China has a massive firewall and has retracted a large amount of western press passes this year. This women risk massive social ostracism, family rejection and their public support is often clamped down quickly, with their stories deleted within hours from Chinese social media. Good news is that it trended before that happened. They’re not on Instagram because it’s banned. Their laws are unequal, it was only due to #woyeshi, China’s #metoomovement that happened underground away from Western view that in recent years the word sexual harassment was legislated in China. The police regularly deters women from reporting and when Xianzi did, there was nothing she could report it accurately as. Chinese women have made great strides, at great expense to their personal safety. #feministfive was captured, tortured and jailed just for public protest.
