October is Domestic Violence awareness month💜 Since I became a survivor on April 4, 2012, I have met so many strong and inspiring individuals. I went from being a victim and having no voice, no strength, barely breathing to a survivor who has used her experience with surviving Domestic Violence to bring awareness and support to others. I have lived more since April 4, 2012 than I have lived my entire life. 💜I made the decision to leave my abusers 💜I have taken my love of art and finding my voice and created Freedom4Ewa 💜I met so many survivors by sharing my story, we have formed lifelong bonds 💜I have created art that speaks to me and so many 💜I met the lead singer of my favorite band KSE 💜I helped inspire him to write a song called, “Quiet Distress” 💜 I’ve met my life partner 💜I’ve shown my artwork in galleries 💜I’ve spoken on the news, at universities and at rally’s 💜I helped others find Domestic Violence resources 💜I’m working on a children’s Domestic Violence awareness book 💜I’ve volunteered with children living in Domestic Violence shelters. We created art and spoke about being kind. 💜I escorted a survivor to court for support 💜I’ve donated to shelters and victims 💜I filled my lungs with air and I am finally breathing 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 I knew deep down inside on April 4, 2012 that I was not okay with my abuser having the power and ability to end my life. I left him and I was so scared, but not as scared as I was every single day that I was with him and my previous abuser. Today, I live in a peaceful home where the only reason I watch my back is because my cats like to sneak up on me 😂 Remember: You are worthy of living in love Survivors, if you are comfortable please share some things that you’ve experienced since becoming a survivor 💜 #survivorstory #warrior #pheonixrising #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth #stopvictimblaming #violenceagainstwomen #empoweringwomen #community #shareyourstory #nomoresilence #justiceforjessica #freedom4ewa https://www.instagram.com/p/CUuuW3rgeKm/?utm_medium=tumblr
