Time was really difficult to keep track of on the ground, especially out here in the ocean. Still, the rig was lively that evening as they celebrated another year of life. At first, she thought it was some kind of anniversary until one of the elders of Flokru explained that the earth is another year older. That’s when she realized, it was their version of New Year’s Eve. Raven shrugged and helped them start setting up for their celebration. Towards the start of the evening, everyone ventured outside. The ocean’s chill penetrated deep, even the furs couldn’t really keep it at bay. As a community, they all watched the sunset on the horizon.
It wasn’t what she was used to when it came to New Years but it wasn’t exactly like they had a clock for a countdown. Raven wrapped an arm around her Grounder’s waist and leaned into to him, watching the sun slowly disappear. Darkness finally settled in, making it hard to see where the sky and ocean separated. That’s when the cheering began. It used to make Raven feel rather unsettled but after months on the rig, it’s become part of life.
“Finn?” When she got his attention, she got on her toes and stole a quick kiss. “Happy New Year.”
