Rep. Phil Gingrey in January 2010.
Last week, Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) wrote a letter to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with a dire warning: Some of the child refugees streaming across the southern border into the United States might carry deadly diseases. "Reports of illegal immigrants carrying deadly diseases such as swine flu, dengue fever, Ebola virus and tuberculosis are particularly concerning," Gingrey wrote. "Many of the children who are coming across the border also lack basic vaccinations such as those to prevent chicken pox or measles."

...As the Texas Observer points out, when it comes to measles, children in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras are more likely to be vaccinated than children in the United States. None of those countries have recorded an outbreak of measles in 24 years. Kids in Marin County are more at risk. Gingrey has long-standing ties to the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, a far-right medical group that opposes all mandatory vaccines. The organization touts access to Gingrey as one of its membership perks. (The AAPS has, incidentally, taken the lead in pushing the idea that migrant children are disease carriers.) In 2007, he wrote an amendment that would allow parents to block their children from receiving HPV vaccines, which are designed to combat cervical cancer.
I just saw a commercial (starts at ~0:20 in the linked video) distributed by "True Conservative" Senator Candidate Phil Gingrey. In it, he disparages his opponent Karen Handel for funding youth Pride and supporting teen homosexuality. AS IF THIS IS A BAD THING. Phil Gingrey is a blatant proponent of denying human rights and a man arrogant enough to feel superior about his prejudice. If you're planning on voting for Gingrey, I beg you to consider Handel instead. Today's youth who deserve the right to happiness, love, marriage, and parenthood tomorrow need support. That support starts with us.

Vote for Paul “Pits of Hell” Broun — he’ll get things done in Washington.
The only new law that I would like to see is one that makes English the official language of America.
Vote for Phil “Magnum” Gingrey — he won’t let your teen turn gay.
Will we condone Karen Handel’s vote for YouthPride that promotes teenage homosexuality?
Will Georgians condone a senator who wants to turn us into Alabama?

So I definitely know that I'm not voting for Phil Gingrey.

Back in 2006, when the GOP was trying to pass a Constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, Georgia Congressman Phil “John C. Reilly will look like me in 20 years” Gingrey went to the House floor to argue that America’s image was at stake.
“This is probably the best message we can give to the Middle East in regards to the trouble we are having over there right now,” Gingrey saidin support of…
