Molly Hatchet Singer Phil McCormack Dead at 58
Phil McCormack, Molly Hatchet singer since 1995, died over the weekend, his bandmates said.
He was 58 and no cause of death was reported.
Molly Hatchet reported the news with “great sorrow” on its social media platforms.
“Phil's contributions to Molly Hatchet were heard around the world,” the band wrote. “He will be missed but never forgotten."
After stints with the Roadducks - who called the vocalist a “fabulous, singer, bandmate, brother and human being” - and Savoy Brown, McCormack replaced Danny Joe Brown in Molly Hatchet and appeared on seven albums with the group.
On Facebook, members of Blackfoot recalled sharing stages with fellow Southern rockers Hatchet and offered condolences to McCormack’s survivors.
“Godspeed brother,” they wrote.
The Outlaws knew McCormack dating back to his Roadducks days and remembered him as “an original self-styled guy with a very kind heart.
“His tenure in Molly Hatchet gave him great joy,” they wrote on Facebook. “Rest in peace Phil, we'll miss you.”
