They have been here since before the dinosaurs! Their vision is unparalleled! The mantis shrimps eyes move separately and have 16 color receptive cones. Scientists believe it can see a much broader range of the color spectrum! They can accelerate their attacks to the speed of a rifle with an unbelievable amount of force! It literally bashes its prey to death, usually removing its appendages first. They can grow to slightly over 12 inched! It's body armor to deliver this much force is extremely advanced and scientists are trying to understand how it works! There are roughly 550 species of them worldwide.
