Post-awards groupfie
Taking a souvenir shot with filmmaker couple, Milo and Cynthia Paz along with comedienne Mae Paner (aka Juana Change) during the celebrations of Tita Ligaya Amilbangsa’s reception of the 2015 Ramón Magsaysay Award, at the Diamond Hotel in Manila.
I had worked with Milo and Cynthia in various projects, including the 2008 film “Boses” but usually by hosting them and other creative in my home in Quezón City. As for Mae Paner, this is my first time to meet her.
Tita Ligaya was awarded in recognition for her work in helping preserve and teach the traditional Tausūg dance of the Pangalay. I had met Tita Ligaya in 1992, short after her brother Bayani Fernándo (1946-2023) was elected as the Mayor of Marikina City, and she was appointed as the director of the arts and culture programs of Marikina.
