JUICE: A Recap

June 17 marked the first of Her Philly MOVES’ monthly day party series, titled “JUICE”.

Held at Life Do Grow Farm, JUICE had over 200 attendees (not bad for a day that was completely rained out until 5-6PM, huh?), JUICE kicked off with a dope lineup of visual artists, performers, and vendors... and ended with a few celebrity guest appearances.

Thursday, July 6 Bootblacking 101 with a Touch of Social Justice

Into kink? Like leather? This may be a dope opportunity for you. Thursdays with Thain - a weekly event that focuses on kink, BDSM and alternative sexuality education, communication and networking - presents a class on bootblacking (a practice in which a person eroticizes or otherwise enjoys caring for shoes and boots in a manner or setting acknowledged to be kinky - via Sex Geek). The class will be led by local QTPOC advocate and Philadelphia Bootblack titleholder, Cherry Bomb.

Music and Poetry Night with Planned Parenthood

This evening will highlight local women, femme, queer, trans, and nonbinary musicians and poets who have come together to support Planned Parenthood. The event is free and open to the public, with a suggested (but entirely optional) $5 donation at the door. All proceeds from the event, including a portion of drink sales, will be donated to PPSP. We will not stand for discrimination against our transgender siblings! Join us August 3rd at noon in the City Hall Courtyard as we celebrate and honor Philadelphia’s LGBTQ veterans and stand in solidarity with our trans brothers, sisters, and gender-nonconforming siblings. We are united, we are one. Event will include remarks from Mayor Jim Kenney, military veteran and advocate Sue Fulton, member of Philadelphia City Council's Veteran's Advisory Commission Aronda Smith, veteran Dante Austin and other LGBTQ veterans and service members.
