thoughts on the endeavour character development in the latest chapters?
cool motive still murder, basically
you see how todoroki reacts to it? endeavor reaches for him and todoroki smacks his hand off. one encouraging word comes out of endeavor’s mouth and todoroki looks ready to discover the wonders of patricide. endeavor offers a promise for change and todoroki is visibly fighting the urge to turn around and leave.
however, the moment inasa shows a shred of belief in endeavor?

endeavor is a terrible person and that’s always made him a remarkable character - someone written so hateable that he’s on the universal shit list of the fandom.
i’m not sure if this weakens him as a character or makes him more interesting - it’s incredibly difficult to form a universal opinion on a character, and it feels like it’s shaking now. endeavor’s hateability was one of his strongest points as a character
on the other hand, endeavor himself only said he’d become a hero todoroki can be proud of which, yes, you guessed it, makes no sense because todoroki already knows endeavor is a great hero, and the dude is currently number one - it literally doesn’t get better than this. and yes you guessed it also, endeavor said jack and shit about becoming a better father or husband or trying to fix his mistakes - nothing
which brings us back to inasa, who’s only ever seen him as a hero to look up to, and hated him when he didn’t turn out to be companionable.
the fact that inasa reacts positively to endeavor’s words puts a tiny smile on todoroki’s face.
because todoroki can’t not see endeavor for his shitty parenting. and it makes it hard to see his great heroing. seeing that heroism change inasa’s attitude is refreshing.
listen, endeavor’s always been a great hero. so much so that he started a family to get an illusion of being number one. and now that he has the position, he’s left with a messy family that hates his absolute guts when he never even cared for it.
he has no idea what to do, and i have not a hint of a speculation on how he’ll act. i’ll bide my time. i hope his character gets handled smoothly.
