HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, UPIS! 🇵ðŸ‡
On this day, in 1898, the people of the Philippines rejoiced in their hard-earned independence from Spain after over three centuries of fighting for freedom. The colors of our nation's flag were unfurled, and the anthem of our motherland was sung for all to hear.Â
Today, 128 years later, we come as a nation to celebrate the lives we live now—the lives bestowed upon us by our ancestors, who had gone through trials and tribulations for the country we now call our home.
We remember those who defied all odds in the name of our people’s independence. Let us continue to embody the fire with which all who came before us sought freedom of their own, just as we now seek ours.
So once more, as friends, family, and fellow Filipinos, let us take pride in the flag of blue, red, white, the golden sun and stars, and sing the song of our Inang Bayan!
