You're very welcome! It was very beautiful as well as extremely evocative. Can't wait to see more from you.
I just want to tell you how much I loved your thoughts on the Dalen's Closet one shot. They hit my heart in the best way.
Thanks anon! I had (and have) a lot of feelings about the oneshot and I'm glad my thoughts have resonated with people.

Please don't cut me! I was born just a little to early for Harry Potter. I'm too invested in writing style over substance. I'm a fan of the fanfic and the world awes me, but I can't read the books. I've tried quite a few times. (And, of course, PEOPLE DIE AT THE END, which always meant I was never going to read the final one.) Like, I've made several HP inspired magic school worlds, but... I didn't like the books.
Hey, I totally understand. I grew up reading the books (or having them read to me) so I grew up as the writing style grew up and became attached to the characters above all. A large part of it for me is just the fact that I was, and still am, so in love with the characters. And I know now that the writing is deeply flawed in a lot of ways, and I am completely comfortable ignoring large portions of canon when it suits my purposes. (I pretty much always ignore the character deaths at the end up book 7 and I think the epilogue is pretty much shit.) But for me Harry Potter was so much more than a series of books, they touched something deep inside me as I was growing up and something about the magic of them and the characters has made them one of the most important and formative experiences of my childhood and adolescence. And even now Harry Potter is my default fandom where I go to play when I’m bored with all the others.
And as I’ve grown up and reread the books I’ve come to see how the story could have been better and how flawed JKR’s conceptions of some points were (Slytherin House being a prime example) but I’ll still always love it because it’s not just a book series to me. And I think the power in the Harry Potter series transcends the books themselves because to most people the series isn’t just a book series. JKR created a world and characters that we, as a group of fans, like to play with even when an individual, like you for example, doesn’t actually enjoy the books themselves. People who don’t like Harry Potter still like Harry Potter. It’s one of the biggest and most far reaching fandoms in the world. And it does stretch across the world. (I have the numbers to back this up because I love me some numbers, but I don’t know if you care.)
So, to wrap up what turned in to a very long reply (sorry about that) It’s actually totally cool that you don’t like HP, there are undeniable flaws in every aspect, and I acknowledge and respect that. However, I think it’s undeniable that Harry Potter is a integral part of our culture and has touched and changed a lot of people, a whole generation of people. And I think that makes it important.
