“Clockwork” - Illangelo ft. Phlo Finister
Director: Lance Drake - Doomsday
Costume Designer - Candice Brittain
I'm kinda late on updating my blog.
I guess the reason is because I haven't really got back to being super consistent in booking shows & events. It's a long road back to getting four to five big events a month. Its like I have to reintroduce myself as a DJ in my area. All the same promoters & people throwing events still doing work but its like cars on the high way & I'm on the side saying slow down so I can hop in your car. None the less I've still managed to book events here & there making my steady return to the stage. After Rock the Bells my next event was with rapper Lil Debbie from Oakland. Her first homecoming show since creating her buzz working along side controversial entertainer/rapper RiFF RaFF. I was juiced to hear that I'd be able to see my friend again but so much has changed in a year or two. This time Lil Debbie stood on her own with her own tour which is pretty remarkable despite the media trying to say she was finished after being kicked out of White Girl Mob. She's very strong and confident though there's nothing stopping her drive and I respect that. That's exactly how I feel about my career. I'm looking past all the obstacles in my way and all I'm focused on is the goal.
The crowd was filled with young mixed faces mostly white kids and they couldn't wait for Lil Debbie to hit the stage. I was dj'ing in between and dj'ing the openers performances. At some point the promoter approached me on stage saying that V Nasty who was scheduled as an opener would not be performing tonight for some reason she wouldn't make to the event. After announcing this to the crowd they let out a collective sigh of disappointment. It was starting to get closer to Lil Debbies stage time & the crowd was getting restless waiting all night for her to hit the stage even I started leaving the stage to find the promoter to see when exactly she was gonna show up. Then suddenly she appear in the backstage with about ten people in her entourage including manager, friends, openers V Nasty, Phlo Finister and special guest K00l John. The show went well and after her fans swarmed her for pics and autographs. I didn't get a chance to talk to her and catch up but it was good to see her and where she has elevated to compared to where she started. I'm proud of my homie Lil Debbie for never quitting and staying strong and true to herself. If you keep that intact you'll be alright in whatever you do.
