Phnom Krom is located about 12 kilometers southwest of Siem Reap city. Phnom Krom is the southernmost of three hilltop temples built in the Angkor region during the reign of Yasovarman on the way to Tonle Sap. The other two are Phnom Bakheng (within the Royal Enclosure) and Phnom Bok (northeast of east Barray.)
On top of a rocky hill, legend of a folk stories as the rocks were exposed by the Lord Hanuman, the 11th Rudra of Shiva during a hunt for medicine in the Ramayana epic, hanuman is believed to have great strength to pick up rocks and removed mountain.

A Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma named as Prasat Phnom Krom was built was built at the end of the 9th century, during the reign of King Yasovarman (889 A.D. – 910 A.D.) This temple or prasat was built of the Angkorian style similar with Phnom Bakheng and Phnom Bok, form a trilogy mountain during Yasovarman era. The main building tower is facing the east, the perimeter of the temple hilltop is enclosed by a laterite wall blocks decorated with cornice, four gates stands on each of the cardinal directions. Four Crematoria located at the east gate are arrayed in a north-south row.
The temple’s focus is on the three towers, also in a row running north to south. They sit atop a platform reached by staircases of seven steps. The southern tower is dedicated to Brahma, the central to Shiva, the northern to Vishnu. Its layout is identical to Phnom Bok which must have been built at the same time.
Visiting Phnom Krom A valid Angkor Archaeological Park Admission Ticket is required. This hilltop is less visited as the location is not within the Small Circuit, good for sunset view over Tonle Sap and paddy field not later than 5.25 pm, that was about the average sunset time.
Combine visiting Tonle Sap lake or the village downhill and lotus farm takes a full day trip.

I was angry. Very, very angry.
(It was a busy day. I was exhausted but needed some fresh air. So, after I finished my work, I decided to visit Phnom Krom (One of the three sacred hills in Siem Reap, Cambodia) to see the beautiful sunset to raise my spirit. But... When I arrived at the foot of the hill, I saw this.)
