— Born in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France, but only because her parents, Victor Grimshaw and Geneviève Moreau, thought it was charmingly old-world to have a child in the Basque countryside. The decision was purely on a whim, they were both young and a little pretentious —like choosing a name that sounded pretty. Her mother panicked once she realized Phoebe was a whole person, a whole being that depended on her and fled in order to gauge what she wanted to do — essentially leaving Phoebe in the care of her uncle, her husband’s brother, while they took some sort of retreat.
— Raised in New York City by her uncle, Theodore Grimshaw. Theodore was the black sheep of the family, a little more on the scrappy side of things but fiercely loyal man who took her in without hesitation. Unlike her parents, who treated her like a fleeting obligation, Teddy genuinely loved her — albeit in his own unconventional way.

she’s a bit offbeat. type of person to make randomly morbid comments because that’s her type of humor. a twinge of sarcasm. bit more on the cynical side, no holds barred. her father’s child through and through even though she seems to insist that she isn’t like him, she desperately wants to at least have the respect of her father. she can be kinda awful and vindictive to a certain point ??? but so touch starved and kind of hungry for,,,pretty much any positivity. some of her questions sound way too vulnerable under the guise of curiosity. “were you disappointed when you got to know me?”
a resentful person, she kind of has disdain for those that act holier than thou in business when it’s all just a big dick competition to her. there is no ethical way to do what they do and she finds it silly that elites attempt to make it seem like they care about their clients in some person level pfft. very pragmatic.
