☎ hugging them
Rafael had been standing in front of Phoebe for quite a while without saying anything. Everything with Stefanie had left him drained and devastated. He was a bad person. He did bad things. He deserved everything that was coming his way. Phoebe had apparently picked up on his pathetic body language. She was the only person in the world that he wanted to tell tell what he’d done. But he couldn’t. He’d have to live with it for the rest of his life. He’d suffer in silence if it meant his family stayed safe.
He found himself in Phoebe’s embrace not long after. His arms had wrapped themselves around her tiny frame tightly. He closed his eyes momentarily. She smelled good. She smelled like being happy. After several minutes, he pulled away, eyes falling on her lips. What he wouldn’t give just to kiss her once.

“Phoebe? She’s one of the coolest people I’ve met. I think she’s really lost. Doesn’t fit in with a lot of the people here, but that’s okay. I like watching movies with her. She’s also one of the prettiest girls I’ve seen. Ever. Like, top 3. – Wait. You’re not gonna tell her that last part, right? Can we cut that? Fuck.”
