magpie my lil child,, her full name is margaret prescott but everyone calls her mags or maggie EXCEPT ej who starts calling her magpie somewhere in middle school and she hates it but it catches on very fast

she's best friends with ashlyn and ej is her mortal enemy for like, as long as she can remember. ej never really went out of his way to bully her but he just has this attitude about him that maggie can't stand,, when ej goes on his 'full and complete honesty' bender in s1 he and magpie have a really weird moment that doesn't get resolved until s2 lol 👀

maggie is a really good singer but she doesn't exactly have any musical aspirations - ashlyn makes her tag along to auditions mostly and sort of tricks her into participating in musicals all the time,, she plays kelsi in hms and I think just a townsfolk person in beauty (I can't think of a good role sos!)

her fc is either isabella ferreira or chase sui wonders but I can't decide,, I'm really just going for a moody teenager vibe

so i wrote about some of her basic background-y stuff here if you wanna check that out!

but basically she's a john b x oc ship that's like ... childhood best friends to friends with benefits to ... very confusing situation

it's definitely one of those situations where they probably shouldn't have gone as far as they did but uh ... no braincells

john b has lowkey liked her for a while, but didn’t realize messing around prob wouldn’t help

inspirations for her character include alaska young, kind of jennifer check from jennifer's body (not like the demon person eating bit, but just like ... quintessential teen movie hot girl — like whatever the fuck megan fox has going on max has it), the sour album, and the songs alrighty aphrodite (peach pit) and clementine (halsey)

she's a pogue born and raised

i said this in the linked post but i reiterate SHE IS THE HOT GIRL OF THE CUT!!!!!!

spends most of her spare money on groceries for the chateau where she spends 90% of her time, as well as trips to the used book store (cue bonding moments with pope)

jj was the first to find out john b and max were macking

jj is also like their child tbfh ... will he become a child of divorce is the question

freshman year, john b was a big part in holding her together after her mom passed away

so in turn max played a very big part in holding john b together after big john went missing

max and john b started their whole thing somewhere between his dad going missing and kiara coming back from her kook year thing

kiara is very anti max and john b

not bc she wants john b or wants max (bc pan!kie agenda is strong in this household)

kie and max are besties at heart, but they fight a lot

in another life, max and sarah honestly would get together

like this story was originally meant to be a john b x max x sarah poly

but it just didn't feel as genuine and felt forced to me so i booted sarah but they have chemistry 100%

will 100% drink any kind of alcohol you give her, but adores the more "girly" drinks like wine coolers and shit

...john b has 100% gotten wine coolers special just for her and endured being called whipped by jj but it was worth it to see the grin on her face

has a bright pink bong that jj constantly drags her over but then he's always looking to smoke with her sooooooooo

max and jj are very similar in the reckless nothing to lose partier aspect

max and jj chaotic bi besties??? maybe so

it's very obvious that max and john b are ... something, but max will swear up and down that it's just casual

john b is like that's hurtful but alright

john b has pretty much just begun mentally treating her like his gf and like it's not that she treats him horribly in comparison bc some things she does scream relationship behavior

but like,,,labeling and the true commitment is what has her like abort abort abort

this one is subject to change but her brother's quite a bit older than her and honestly i might just make him be somewhat friends with barry just for shits and giggles

like the peak comedy of max just getting ready to leave her house and barry's just at the kitchen table with one of her books like "this thing any good?"

she's like i'm not a fucking lending library

idk i just like the concept of them interacting like that pre-ep7 when he holds the pogues at gunpoint lmao

speaking of her brother ... bastard child we hate him

he took custody of max after their mom passed and he's regretted it ever since even though he doesn't even really have to do shit like she pretty much supports herself he's just a fucking asshat

both of them speak mandarin chinese (they'd speak it around the house before their father died when max was a kid) and there's just many situations in my head where they're arguing in full blown chinese and john b is just standing there like 🧍🏻‍♂️

also the fights are about him so ... peak humor

max's book are all over the chateau and john b lets her talk about them as long as she wants because she gets so excited and into it and he's a simp that's it

those printed shirts he wears??? she will in fact steal half of them she is a menace

ahem, the entire idea and character is absolutely snatched from CW's Nancy Drew but I love it so much and it's been like a year since her character has been on it and she deserves more??? also it blends weirdly well with teen wolf so here we are.

So the fic as a whole will flip between 2005, when Lucy's a teenager, and 2011, because that's when Teen Wolf starts. idk explaining this is kind of hard because spoilers but also it's very clearly split into two parts... so for reasons I'm gonna tackle this by talking about the show first.

2011

The main character and narrator is Josh Sable, Lucy's younger brother

at this point Lucy has been missing for 6 years. Her case isn't necessarily active, but it's not closed. People around town have even made their own little ghost story out of her disappearance.

Because this is teen wolf, naturally, it kicks off with Stiles and Scott showing up at his house in the dead of night because they found a body in the woods.

in terms of show-plot this is all I have, however, Josh's best friend and a couple other girls (but mostly Lydia) keep experiencing these weird things, which if any of them actually knew what to look for would qualify as hauntings. Though Lydia is seeing whole-ass apparitions of ghost Lucy and is naturally Not Handling It Well.

basically, Lucy really fucks with Lydia's banshee powers, but not on purpose

There's also this side plot involving Ryan Argent where he's a murder suspect, but like, so is Derek. though for different murders, and also the same murder too. . .

2005

Lucy is alive and well, and happy!

She's friends with Derek and Paige, though her closest friend is Carolyn Hart.

her only concerns are looking after her little brother, and keeping her grades up

her boyfriend Ryan is from this kind of horrible rich family, think Jackson but as an adult, and he goes to some fancy shmancy school, but sneaks out all the time to visit Lucy because I'm a sucker for young love, okay?

basically, life is fine for Lucy, but also rapidly unravelling because there are so many little pieces to her life that are just falling to pieces.

this probably makes no sense sdksk, sorry. However I feel like this captures the vibe / relationships of the characters relatively well.

domestic life headcanon: after college they all live together for almost a year in the city so they can a) not be in beacon hills and b) just have time together and make some money for a real house in the future

that being said they don't see each other super often bcuz they have different schedules but when they go they cook dinners together and it's very sweet

angst headcanon: when scott was murdered lydia screamed so loud clementine could hear it inside her house and she Knew something bad had happened

meeting the parents headcanon: they all know each other's parents before they get together but when they tell them they're all dating they make it a whole thing

melissa is cool with it even tho it's kind of confusing to her but she's vibing overall

clementine's mom is really excited for them and embarrasses her so bad and her dad is like "uh have fun with that i guess?"

lydia's parents are the only ones with a problem and lydia decides she doesn't care lol

wedding headcanon: scydia are the only ones who get married bcuz like legality and stuff but also bcuz clem doesn't really want to be married but they do give her kisses at the wedding and she cries tears of joy

Although I do wanna mention: sirens only come about through violent watery deaths and mermaids are made through peaceful means, and both transformations usually have to do with specific moon cycles, if not a blood relation!
