Can’t believe the UFC cut Julija Stoliarenko. She’s fun as hell. her and Lisa Verzosa are having a goddamn war right now for the Invicta FC bantamweight title. End of round 3 and both are completely covered in blood, especially Verzosa who was cut open by Stoliarenko’s elbows. Right in the middle of her head.

Julija Stoliarenko wins war with Lisa Verzosa! Captures Invicta Bantamweight Title!

That was one of the best fights in the history of Invicta FC. Up there with Mizuki-Grasso and Smith-Young 1. Also one of the bloodier affairs I think I’ve seen in MMA. The first minute of this fight involved Stoliarenko landing 2-3 head kicks and then walking onto a right hand from Verzosa and getting dropped. Then she almost armbarred her! And that was before either fighter’s face was cracked in half. Stoliarenko started throwing elbows with the lead arm and absolutely busted open Verzosa’s face. There is now a huge gash in her face. But she managed to survive like 3 rounds after the cut opened up and won on one of the judges’ cards. But absolutely bonkers performance from both women, especially Stoliarenko who proved she is a quality violence producer.

Taneisha Tennant takes it on the cards over Taylor Guardado. 30-27 3x. Tennant is your tournament champion!

Great run through the tournament for Tennant. Went 5 rounds against 3 different opponents and controlled every single minute of every round of each fight. Was able to keep Guardado at range with straight shots and body kicks. Had some issues when Guardado started punching with her. Would really like to see her feint more, try to really draw out a reaction to set up those counter strikes.

Looks like Tennant will face the winner of the main event between Lisa Verzosa and Julija Stoliarenko for the title.

Invicta FC about to test first open scoring MMA fight in US

So really haven’t talked about open scoring for MMA but as someone who watches his fair bit of Glory, I’m hear to tell you that open scoring doesn’t fix shit. It just makes you angry during a potentially great fight. God awful decisions still happen, you just don’t get the joy of enjoying a good fight because you’re distracted by a bad card.

Kay Hansen vs Liana Pirosin in our first three rounder of the night is up now.

Taneisha Tennant vs Hope Chase and Serena DeJesus vs Taylor Guardado is the semi-finals for tonight’s Invicta FC bantamweight tournament.

Sucks that Tennant-Chase is in the semis, cause I think that would make an amazing final. It’s an interesting match up between the counter fighting out fighter Tennant and the brawler Chase. Should be a good one.

Taylor Guardado takes SD over Serena DeJesus

I thought DeJesus won that one. Just fantastic work at neutralizing Guardado’s body lock takedowns and punishing her in the clinch despite being the smaller fighter. Guardado did some decent work at range, especially at the end of the fight. Still looked a bit uncomfortable doing it and most of the fight was fought in the clinch where DeJesus did.

Kelly Clayton dominates  Flori Neamtu-Moeller with right hand before getting the RNC !

I have never seen a fighter since Roy Nelson eat that many right hands inside of a round. Neamtu-Moeller just charged in with her head straight up in the air and ate every punch Clayton threw at her. Clayton eventually got her down and got her back to get the sub. This was a tournament alternate fight so Clayton might advance if one of the women in the tournament has to pull out later.
