𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐔𝐍𝐔𝐒𝐔𝐀𝐋, though perhaps in the heat of the moment when it came to taking out the sin eater in their hunt for the fabled Minfilia he had recently learned about had not been the best time for such to take place. It's been years. Years since they had been snatched up from The Source and making themselves comfortable in their newfound lives upon The First. At least as comfortable as they can be when Abi feels there are days that the years start to blend together. She's losing count.

It's the lunge of her chakrams as she twirls around and ensures her ranged attack lands before the final blow is delivered. They'd been hunters for so long that despite their bickering, they still manage to remain in perfect sync.

“  It’s wishful thinking to even assume I’d want it any other way.  “  His hand already prepped and tugging out his weapon of choice for the job he’d decided to take on in their battle. Adrenaline rushing through his blood, excitement for the upcoming match brought on by the other. The way the other had his axe at the ready in return, a familiar spark in his eye, makes it feel all the more real that they’ve been reunited in such a way.

He almost has to ask himself if this is another dream.

“  Remember that you asked for this.  “  And that’s all that needed to be said as their symbol to start. The mad dash forward, weapon raised and ready to swing, the clash of his blade against Ardbert’s axe a familiar song playing in his ears.

It’s a rush he never wanted to forget.

          “  Are you telling me there’s a connection to what you’re working on with the light?  “  Harumi moves a hand over her chest, feels the way heart hammers while thinking back to the latest lightwarden, thinks back to the way it feels when she absorbs the light. The rush, the ache. How lightheaded it leaves her. But all of that she keeps to herself.

Especially when it feels like her companion is so close to a breakthrough. Whatever that breakthrough happened to be went above and beyond her head but still one she noticed all the same. Whatever the connection, whatever could be used to help.

The way her eyes glisten with pride and determination also makes it worth it. Adds more reason for the now Warrior of Darkness to seek out and return night to The First.

If only she didn’t feel so sick. But she can push on. She’s dealt with worse stomach aches.
