Did you hear this myth growing up? Which type of animal was your “daddy longlegs”?
i found this little guy behind my cat’s litter box a while ago, assumed it was a daddy long legs, and let it be. now taking a closer look at it i’m not so sure, especially since i noticed it had made a web, which daddy long legs don’t do. i’m now thinking it’s some kind of cellar spider. what do you think? (southwest ohio)

You are correct, this is not a Harvestman (Daddy-long-legs), order Opiliones.

Cellar spider (family Pholcidae) and her eggs!
spotted a daddy long leg spider [Pholcidae] on the stem of queen anne's lace (wild carrot!) [Daucus carota]. i almost missed him; he was blending in so well!
Long-Bodied Cellar Spider (Große Zitterspinne, Pholcus phalangioides). This species is synanthropic, it lives indoors usually on the ceiling.
