Enchanted- A Gay Song Phone Comic
Enchanted by Taylor Swift
This song has such magical vibes
[ID: A comic drawn on a phone memo app. The background is pale purple. The first panel says the title, ‘Enchanted,’ in underlined bright purple. It shows a woman in pink with her back facing the screen. Around her are purple curtains and two silver bells with blue ribbons, and chandeliers. The woman has light skin and is wearing a long sleeved, pale, bright pink mermaid dress with a white strap around the waist, a v neck in the back, and a pale pink sparkling tulle train. Her brown hair is over her right shoulder and shows some hot pink in the bottom layer. Her arms are in front of her. The next panel shows her from the front, surrounded by outlines of people in various colors. She is holding a clear glass, and now her beaded sash and pearl hair clip are visible. It is captioned ‘There I was again tonight, forcing laughter, faking smiles, same old tired lonely place. Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes and vacancy, vanished when I saw your face. All I can say is it was Enchanting to meet you.’ The next panel shows a new woman wihth dark skin in a dark red and purple ballgown. It has a Queen Anne neckline and a purple overlay on the red skirt. Her hair is black with brown highlights. She holds her hands in front of her. It is captioned ‘Your eyes whisper, have we met? Across the room your silhouette starts to make its way to me.’ The next panel shows the woman in red brushing her hand against the back of the woman in pink’s. It is captioned, ‘The playful conversation starts, counter all your quick remarks like passing notes in secrecy. And it was Enchanting to meet you, All I can say is I was Enchanted to meet you.’
The next panel starts the chorus shows the pink woman in a white spherical carriage surrounded by stars. She is blushing. It is captioned, ‘This night is sparkling, don’t you let it go, I’m wonder struck, blushing all the way home. I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew, I was Enchanted to meet you.’ The next panel shows a vanity stand with part of a mirror visible. On the left is a jar with a sunset lesbian flag in it. It is captioned, ‘The lingering question kept me up, 2 a.m. who do you love?’ The next panel shows the pink woman in a lighter pink long sleeved nightgown pacing with her arms behind her back. It is captioned, ‘I wonder till I’m wide awake. And now I’m pacing back and forth, wishing you were at my door.’ The next panel shows the red woman standing in the pink woman’s doorway, surrounded by a dreamy blue and green sparkly wind. She is wearing a nightgown in the same colors, but simpler and shorter with a v-neck and purple window covering the bottom of the neckline. Her arms are behind her back. It is captioned ‘I’d open up and you would say, “Hey, it was Enchanting to meet you. All I know is I was Enchanted to meet you.”’
The next chorus shows the two women dancing in the dreamy wind, the pink woman being spun by the red woman. Lighter lines show their dresses fading to look like their gowns. It is captioned, ‘This night is sparkling, don’t you let it go, I’m wonder struck, blushing all the way home. I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew.’ The next panel shows the pink woman twirling by herself, her nightgown flowing around her and her arms out, with her hair blowing to one side. It is captioned ‘This night is flawless, don’t you let it go. I’m wonderstruck, dancing around all alone. I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew, I was Enchanted to meet you.’ The beginning of the bridge shows the women with their arms around each other’s shoulders and waist. They are dancing on top of an oversized, open purple storybook. Around them are stars. It is captioned ‘And this is me praying that this was the very first page, not where the storyline ends. My thoughts will echo your name, until I see you again.’ The next panel shows a flashback from that night, of the red woman standing in her doorway with her hands pressed against the walls. The doorway is a purple archway with decorations on it. It is captioned ‘These are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon, I was enchanted to meet you.’
The next panel shows a black night background with stars and a waning crescent, and the pink woman running, still in her nightgown. It is captioned, ‘Please don’t be in love with someone else, please don’t have somebody waiting on you. Please don’t be in love with someone else, please don’t have somebody waiting on you.’ The next panel repeats the chorus and shows the two women united, holding each others arms as if the red woman caught the pink woman running toward her. Surrounding them is a starry blue night background. It is captioned, ‘This night is sparkling, don’t you let it go, I’m wonder struck, blushing all the way home. I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew.’ The next panel shows the two women kissing, surrounded by stars. It is captioned, ‘This night is flawless, don’t you let it go. I’m wonderstruck, dancing around all alone. I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew, I was Enchanted to meet you.’ The last panel shows a close-up of them holding each other’s hands, surrounded by hot pink and dark purple hearts. It is captioned ‘Please don’t be in love with someone else, please don’t have somebody waiting on you.’ It is signed by the author. End ID.]
Coming out of my social media slumber (because the world has been nuts it’s been harder to do more than one project at a time, so I just haven’t been making as much art lately) to announce that I’ve finished my short comic, Bardsong.
https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/bardsong-h/list?title_no=426785
Bardsong is part of the Webtoons Short Story Contest, and it is about 5 episodes long. So, if you like my work and you like my writing--please give it a look and tell your friends.
I really tried to stretch myself with this one. It’s a crazy amount of art that I managed to make so quickly and consistently, and while it’s not perfect (no comic is) it’s the best comic I’ve made so far, I’m pretty proud of it. That and I made it in like 2 months. Crazy. Imagine how quickly it would have been if I weren’t stressed out every minute of every day because of the pandemic.
It’s about a Bard who goes on a spiral when he gains and loses 2 followers in one day. So basically, it’s about art problems, visibility problems, and fighting that feeling of being obsolete.
