Still trying to figure out how to root my phone. It’s an HTC Evo Shift running Android 2.3.4. Apparently this was a particularly difficult phone to begin with, and now nobody cares because it’s old. Its internal memory is 512 mb, which wouldn’t be an issue if it didn’t try to save everything to internal memory, but it does. It also has a LOT of unremovable bloatware, including a defunct mobile version of twitter that can’t even interact with twitter anymore. Why would you even make unremovable apps? Why would you do that? Why so many of them, half of which are for following sports teams?
I’ve found about five guides from 2011 or older with broken links to necessary tools or components, and one tool that was updated this month but costs $10 and was made by someone with a 2edgy style website who was banned from three different Android forums. I decided I needed to stop for the day when buying 2edgy guy’s tool started seeming like a reasonable course of action to me.
