Today's USAToday.com column answers a question I've seen more than once: What's my cheapest option for both mobile phone service and residential broadband? The answer appears to involve adding a $15 tethering option to a $30 T-Mobile plan--but it may be easier to get a plain old "feature phone" and combine it with a cheap wired broadband plan. The column also outlines the various employer, school and other affiliation-based discounts the four major nationwide carriers offer, such as AT&T's 15 percent savings for union members and Sprint's 10 percent deal for credit-union account holders; do you know of any other unlikely offers that I should have mentioned?
