“Don’t run off too far sophie, we’re only here to get what we need.” A older woman in her late 40’s with dirty blonde hair stated as she started to browse the aisles. She flashed Sophie a soft smile that had some sad undertones. “It wouldn’t be nice to get candy for yourself and not for the others..”
“Okay..” a small girl replied to her caretaker as she waddled away. She had been in the system for as long as she remembered and she never had a set home. The woman she was with, Ms. Jessica, was one of the caretakers who worked closely with Sophie. They called her a “special” case, considering not much was known about her mother and why she left Sophie up for adoption. All that was stated was that it was due to “personal reasons.”
She waddled over to the magazines, hearing her call for her again. “I’m looking!!” She whined as she picked up a magazine.
“Sophie I need you here no—“
“Ms. Jessica??” She called out.
