Last night, a friend and I wandered around @groundsforsculpture. I've been there several times before, marveled at some of the insane works of art, wondered “how the HELL did the artist do that?” but I never really took the time to sit some pieces and really take them in. So we sat, mesmerized by certain pieces, confused as hell by others. My interpretations might not have been on point with the artist's intentions, but that's the great thing about art. It's personal. Here’s one thing we didn’t do - we didn’t check our phones. Not once. In fact, I shut mine off. I turned it on only once, to take this photo of the sun setting. No filter! If I had my phone on, I probably would have been checking texts or randomly scrolled Instagram, and not because I was bored, but because it’s become a terrible habit. A habit I’m slowly trying to break. I want you to do something this weekend. Shut your phone off. Fuck it, leave it at home. Take your family, your husband, wife, a friend, and go experience something. If you see something new, surprising, or unusual, take a picture and tag me in it, and then shut your damn phone off again. I’ll see it when I come back on Monday. Have a journal-entry worthy weekend. -- #art #sunsets #sulptures #phonesoff #weekends #weekendvibe #nofilter (at Grounds For Sculpture) https://www.instagram.com/p/BydC4FqAQnk/?igshid=1jh7764op81zq
