What Is Photography? Photography Definition, Meaning (2023)
Photography is nothing but the art of capturing light with a camera to create an ‘image’. It’s a powerful medium to showcase your memories and express your creativity, and tell your stories to the world in an art form!
The term “photography” comes from the Greek words “photos” (light) and “graphos” (to draw or write). Joseph Nicéphore Niépce is the first man who took a first photograph back in 1826. Photography has made our lives have been shaped by it ever since. We have used it to document our memories, share our experiences, and tell stories.
Generally, photography has plenty of genres like Travel, Wildlife, Fashion, Documentary photography, etc… All of them serve their own purposes!

How to Find Your Photography Style
I have taken a lot of photos that I like and dislike the last few years but it wasn’t until the last few months that I have felt super excited and comfortable with my style. I really feel like I have found myself and am on my own unique path. So I thought I would share a few things I have learned!
1. Tell a story
Everything should have some kind of backstory, context, anything that gives the viewer that it’s more than just another pretty girl in a trendy outfit looking at the camera. We see that everyday. Give the people something to think about!
2. Embrace your environment
This was a lesson that was difficult for me to learn. You don’t need a skyline or mountains to make your photos interesting. Lately, I have been using my house as a backdrop and I am shocked at how ME the photos actually feel compared to my previous work. Use what you have!
3. Prioritise emotions
Emotions can really take your photos to the next level. It can be awkward for models to experiment with emotions but it is worth it!!!
I still feel like I have a lot of improving to do so I’m sure their will be a part 2 to this some time. Let me know if you have anything to add or if you agree or disagree. I’m always interested in what people think!
