Their polyps are much more closely connected! Not only their skeletons (like most other species) but also polyp tissues are connected. Some scientists claim that makes them a more advanced coral species! 🏆 . However, it's not all that peachy. While the close integration helps with transfering nutrients and oxygen, it also helps any pathogens to spread much faster! ☠️ .
