Photoshop brushes!

I've just done a workshop at Uni about making my own brushes/textures in photoshop. Then we had to use them on a pre-existing image, so I chose this old one of Via :3

I really like how it turned out!!! It's a super cool brush and I wanna use it again in future!!

In the second induction, we took a deeper look at the many tools that are part of illustrator. Firstly, We looked at the typefaces and the many customisations we can do in that area, which nicely led us to the character styles.

For the second board, using the pen tool I traced the second 'hello' to create handwritten typography. To further this, I used the line weight tool to add more pressure to strokes going downward.

The third task was to recreate the logo with slight differences of our own, this included using the type tool and shape tools, and colouring, slowly bringing together the skills over the past few tasks.

We continued this with more logos, this time including the pathfinder window to merge the imagery and the knife tool to cut out our designs.

The last thing was retouching colours, changing specific colours and colour palettes if the project changed throughout its course.

In the first image, I straightened the horizon using the said tool in photoshop. The straight lines evident throughout the photo inspired me to change the proportion of the image to a square. I also saturated the colours, mainly blue in order to add details to the sea.

In the second image, I began to play with mock-ups within photoshop, adding the ABBA posters to an otherwise blank wall, and adding textures above in order to portray realism within the edit. In future, I would like to experiment with these further and fully understand their potential.

In the first photo edit, I removed the white spots from the image and adjusted the colouring levels as well as exposure. I changed the colouring differently between the cliffs and the sky.

I removed the person with an expanded selection and fill effect in the second photo edit. I also, once again, brightened the exposure and the mid-tones. I believe the photo could be enhanced by changing the image proportions to fit within the photographic grid.

Mock Ups.

In this excessive we learnt how to use mock up to see our work in an environment where it may be presented.

We learnt also how to add texture to the poster to add a sense of realism to the mock up.

Overusing Photoshop.

This exercise is to show that while photoshop is useful to editing photos it also can be overused. 

Here I used the blur tool to change this cat into a swirly whirly looking cat, that no longer looks like a cat but a shadow of a cat.

Straightening, Cropping, Masking and Blending Options.

With this photo we used the crop tool to straighten and crop the photo to make the book in the centre. 

Then we looked at using the masking tool and blending options to change the hue of the book.

Cleaning Up Photographs.

In this workshop we used the patch tool and the content aware tool to clean up the photographs, where the film had left marks on the photo.
