I talk a lot of shit about how irritating PSRs are for someone who spent 3 hours absolutely lost in the sauce with them on my syntax homework the other night
#linguistics#linguistics grad student#PSR#phrase structure rules#wow that’s niche autocorrect didn’t even autocomplete#generative syntax#my prof: PSRs are kinda obsolete these days so we’re not gonna spend too much time on them#professor: prepares to spend at least two weeks on PSRs#meanwhile I’m like: I can haz x-bar?#but then I enjoy my bracketed diagrams a little *too* much after declaring them my mortal enemy#am I in a toxic relationship with bracketed diagrams?#possibly#love me some trees tho#haven’t done them since second to last semester of my bachelors degree tjo#and rarely at all in English so getting back into it is interesting#gap year good for mental health bad for my syntax trees
