Lady Gaga was inspired by Liza Minelli’s musical film “Cabaret” and hired Samy Djerbi from Slam Photography to create a one-of-a-kind photoshoot with her titlted “La Cabaret de Gaga”.
Gaga was styled by William Carnimolla, who was kind enough to provide all the fashion credits to me. Makeup and hair by Vincent Allegro.
William styled Gaga exclusively in archival Mugler pieces for this photoshoot.
In this photo she wears a vintage tuxedo jacket and white shirt, which are probably from the Spring/Summer 1992 prêt-à-porter collection.
An elastic patent leather corset belt by Kiki de Montparnasse cinches her waist.
Next, Gaga poses as a marionette dressed in a black fringed tie-waist jacket from Mugler’s Spring/Summer 1997 Haute Couture collection. She wore this exact piece in white 5 years later.
On the head, a sculptural black pillbox hat crowned with a vivid red feather pom-pom, striking a sharp balance between restraint and theatricality. Handmade by the shoot’s stylist William Carnimolla, it channels classic couture millinery with a mischievous, almost punk flourish.
Both her oversized black patent leather crocodile embossed flap clutch with gold-tone hardware...
...and knee-high black leather pointed boots are archival Giuseppe Zanotti.
My favourite look is head-to-toe vintage Mugler. Gaga is seen donning a Spring/Summer 1997 Haute Couture intergalactic silver bodice with geometric front piece, fully embellished with square white cabochons and bugle beads.
She’s also wearing a lucite cuff and plexiglass & PVC version of the platform sandals worn by Naomi Campbell at the Spring/Summer 1992 prêt-à-porter collection.
Here the songstress wears nothing but a few accessories including her Haus of Gaga rock crystal-embellished perforated black shades. The pink cardboard gift box was designed by stylist William Carnimolla.
The striking silver metal forearm cuff is yet another archival Mugler gem.
The rivet and stud-embellished black leather cut-out sandals with silver metallic heel are another Giuseppe Zanotti design.
For this showgirl moment, Gaga chose a red & black feathered jacket from the 2007 collection of Nono’s Lingeries which was sourced at Phyléa - Paris’ oldest and first fetish boutique to combine elegance, haute couture and fantasy.
For the penultimate photo, Gaga dons a nude tulle catsuit embellished with rhinestones - one of the staple pieces from Mugler’s Fall/Winter 1995 Haute Couture collection.
William Carnimolla whispered to me that the ruffled black tulle puff headpiece is one of his own creations.
The look was completed with a pair of Christian Louboutin’s Mini Bout beige patent leather peep-toe pumps.
Last but not least, the songstress hangs in the air while wearing layered corsets in black and nude all by Agent Provocateur. On top of it she wore a black tuxedo bolero with the entire backside made of floral lace, I have yet to identify.
She also rocked these Dolce & Gabbana DG 4018 713 aviator frames with large silver logo letters on the clear sides.
Her lavender faux flower rope sandals with grass-covered heels were part of Alexis Mabille’s Spring/Summer 2009 Haute Couture collection.
