Physalis walteri / Dune Groundcherry in Punta Gorda, FL
so what you're telling me is Dune Groundcherries just never stop to chill? literally? lol??? still flowering and fruiting in November, December, January, and February??? just never stop???? never chill??????????? they're flowering and fruiting and flower-budding more often than they ever don't have any flowers at all???????
this graph covers all the observations of Dune Groundcherries on iNAturalist so far. The only ones in the grey line are the ones without photos. These plants literally never chill. Not even in the dead of winter.
All the Dune Groundcherry observations that have photos now have annotations so the graph is filled out :)
Physalis Walteri, a quick photo complication of a wild, native, perennial known as Dune Groundcherry!
1) mature fruits, outside their husks
2) container plant (sad currently) with mature fruit
3 + 4 ) Physalis Walteri vs Physalis Peruviana, (Dune Groundcherry vs Cape Gooseberry) to show off size difference-- Physalis Peruviana also has a lot more flavor, immediately tasting like pineapple or an orange that is sweet when you bite into it
5) another shot of the plant
6+7) Physalis Walteri cutting in a cup, fully established its own root system and now trying to send up runners!
8) Typical Physalis Walteri flower, yellow with a red/brown throat that hangs downward on the plant.
I'm like "oh I'll film the seedsaving videos in the bathroom since it's quiet" but mistakes were made, it's too quiet, so now in all the videos you just hear the incessant clicking of the camera. Why is it even clicking when it's recording video? I have no idea. But it is. And it's really annoying.
anyways here's some seed saving videos I just made. Please ignore the clicking noise.
Also I am once again asking: how do I add subtitles to my youtube videos? Can I do it through youtube? Is there a free video editing program I can download that even dummies like me with no training can use?
