Atoms’ $1.7 Billion Funding Signals Growing Investor Confidence in Industrial Robotics

1X Unveils Advanced Humanoid Hand as Race for Human-Like Robotics Intensifies

1X, a Norwegian robotics company, has unveiled a new humanoid robotic hand that it says will help make robots much more dexterous. The new hand was designed for the company’s NEO humanoid robot, and will enable robots to have 25 degrees of freedom, which will be useful for various delicate and complex tasks that have traditionally been difficult to be performed by robots.

The hand can be used to perform fine finger motions, run tools, sort objects, do housework, etc the company says. The announcement comes as part of 1X’s plan to create humanoid robots which can function in daily life.

SoftBank and Yaskawa Showcase AI Platform for Training Industrial Robot

A new AI-powered platform by SoftBank Corp. and Japanese industrial robotics firm Yaskawa Electric was successfully showcased to ease the development and deployment of industrial robots.

The focus of the demonstration was deformable object manipulation, a manipulation task that is challenging for robots since the object to be manipulated, like cables, fabrics and flexible objects, can deform during manipulation. 

The platform will integrate and leverage AI Data Center GPU Cloud infrastructure from SoftBank, along with Nvidia technology, to enable an AI development lifecycle that spans from data collection and model training to testing and deployment on physical robots.

A French Artificial Intelligence startup, Mistral, has launched its first robotics AI model. This demonstrates its entry into the quickly developing field of physical AI The transfer opens up a new avenue for Mistral to explore beyond language models and enterprise AI software, into actual industrial settings like factories, warehouses, and autonomous systems. The launch is part of Mistral’s efforts to bolster its robotics capabilities after the acquisition of Austrian startup Emmi AI this year.

Mowito Raises $3 Million to Simplify Industrial Robot Programming

Bengaluru-based startup Mowito has secured $3 million for its pre-seed round, led by Version One Ventures, alongside All In Capital, Unisol, iSeed and some angel investors. The new money will be used to scale up the company’s engineering and business operations and expand into the U.S. market, as well as build up its engineering and business team, while at the same time expanding deployments across automotive and electronics manufacturing facilities.

Established in 2024, Mowito is creating what it is calling “Physical AI” models for industrial robots. Unlike conventional coding and robot programming, its technology makes it easy to learn tasks from live demonstrations, which makes the deployment of robots on factory floors easier.
