Sorry, I just really need to get this off my chest So you hear about race equality, gender equality and even mental illness equality in the LGBTQ+ community all the time on here at least but no one ever talks about physically disabled members of the community, I think I've seen two posts on here at the most. I'm saying this without the intention of making you guilty but I am a physically disabled member of the LGBTQ+ community and my mother doesn't really understand why our community has so much pride so being disabled and a lesbian in my family makes me feel like I'm a fish on Mars and the fact that people don't realise that disabled people have feelings too is really upsetting. I've met a few girls online and we talk for ages and then when I tell them about my disability, I get blanked or pitied. I get so upset and hurt that a little thing about me can change your overall opinion on me, it's really unsettling. Side note: I don't need pity either thank you. The majority of physically disabled people have the same mentality as the average person so we can be different sexualities or different genders if we want to. We just want to be the same as everyone else! But I might be wrong. I don't know. Even if I am wrong, I wanna start #physicalequality A lot of people, like me, are very insecure about their disabilities and the fact that they are LGBTQ+ so I would really love it if people could realise just how much it would mean to all of us, the physically disabled side of the LGBTQ+ community, and that we are recognised. Thank you.
