The fact that this makes sense if you imagine Demogorgon skin like Kevlar is so mind boggling to me.

Why do people hate on this for making Demogorgons seem like less of a threat?

Kevlar is resistant to bullets but when you come at it with a knife it can go clean through. And it's remarkable how consistent this logic actually has been in the show. Steve and his bat, Hopper and his sword, Karen and her wine. I mean, have we ever seen a Demo-creature die because of bullets?

Just imagine Dustin or Mike or literally any of the NERDS in the party figure this out! The entirety of volume 1 I was just so confused why no one was wielding a sword. Did the adults just not remember to tell the kids what happened in Russia? Why is Nancy Wheeler considered powerful even if all she can do is SHOOT.

We even get a glimpse of this with Dustin saying these about-to-fall-apart standby stab things can deal a surprising amount of damage! This could have been such a good plot point.

And everyone just keeps complaining about why the military doesn't have more flame throwers, while Kay just sits there, casually slicing Demo-Skin for experiments and no one wonders if that might be the way to kill these things if it comes down to it?
